Bahja and Ihsan
What feelings did you experience while reading Bahja and Ihsan?
Bahja and Ihsan were moving stories indeed. Feelings like sadness and compassion to the tough and humiliating events that both women had to face as refugees were inevitable. In fact, the emotions I experienced while reading their narrations were numerous. I felt intrigue to know what was going to happen in the end. I also felt fear after having read the horrible and terrific experiences both women had to face. On the other hand, a feeling of admiration emerged from me when realizing how Bahja and Ihsan were able to continue their lives despite the mortifying events they had to suffer.
Now i have read a lot of stories throughout my life that include people suffering from war, rape, mistreatment, attack etc... But Bahja And Ihsan are different than what i have read. The author had his special way of writing, his extraordinary description of every scene that happened with both characters really affected me. I felt that sometimes i complain for stuff that are negligible in tragedy compared to what we read, i also liked the feeling i got which is that i should always keep up my standards and so hope, because after everything that happened, they went on with their life.
Bahja and Ihsan are two one of a kind stories. In my opinion, they both talk about suffering, rape and mistreatment of women especially, but the way the author describe these scenes, made us feel like we were there and we could imagine exactly what, where and how these acts of crime happened. However the main point of all the story, the thing that caught my attention, was that they went on with there life after all what happened to them.
Bahja and Ihsan are two stories that should be honored in there home countries. In fact both stories sheds the light on how refugees suffers during war time ,cases of racism ,mistreatment and other shocking events that surprised us.In my opinion both stories took us deeply with the events that they had experienced during the war in Sudan by discussing and following chronological order of the terrible and suffering events.I hope these two stories attracted the attention of Sudanese citizen and especially Sudanese women to know how women is strong and independent.
Bahja and Ihsan are stories that highlight some big issues about refugees who suffer during war in their countries. This will be a great message for politicians to start thinking about their countries and the lives of people. In fact, Bahja and Ihsan are two women that were independent, patient, clever to pass through all these difficulties during that time. In my opinion this idea would be great announcement for people and especially the readers of these stories who thought that man is superior than woman to know that woman can be as powerful as man in such hard situations.
I don't usually read stories like Bahja and Ihsan. however, when i read these stories i felt fear and i was moved by the decription that the author used. Bahja and Ihsan suffered from various obstacles. They both were exposed to rape, racism, harrasment and where being attacked by men. Bahja stated "I was raped 5 times". She faced a lot of obstacles and lost some of her family members and yet still found a way to survive all these obstacles. Also, Ihsan faced man instances of humiliation and harassment such as " The family I worked for had a 21-year old son who used to tease and flirt with me in an inappropriate way". She was being harassed but she kept her mouth shut due to her need of money.I look up to these two women with admiration because no matter how much they suffered during the war, they still managed to find a way to stand up on their feet and fight for their lives. Bahja and Ihsan are in my opinion two very strong women.
Bahja and Ihsan, two equally touching and tragic stories about courageous women who were forced to endure countless disasters as they were seeking survival and protection for their families. Sadness and sorrow were among the many gloomy feelings that intruded me while reading through these two stories. Naturally, one would experience benevolence towards the humiliated characters of the stories. Nonetheless, the feeling of pride and gratification cannot be held back as Bahja and Ihsan overcame every tiny dilemma always turning out triumphant no matter how unpleasantly bitter life conditions turned out to be.
Although Bahja and Ihsan were two different stories, they both intrigues me in the same way. The affliction that they faced in their home countries, and the deatil that the author used, made me think in depth while reading. Fleeing from your home country would be devastating. Ihsan moved from her home country to Egypt, where she applied her skills to find a well-paid job that would support her and her sister. She kept trying many jobs until she found the right one. This shows hard work and determination, which is what both Bahja and Ihsan acquire. I now look up to both of these women, and admire the bravery the had to put everything aside and focus on supporting themselves. What Bahja and Ihsan went through gives meaning to the phrase, never give up.
Both Bahja and Ihsan are stories drenched in sadness and hurt. I felt enveloped in the tragedy that lead the lives of both these women. Their stories voiced strength and perseverance, and it made me proud to be a woman - an arab woman at that. Most of what we know presently revolves around petty misconducts and these stories made me grateful for all the pettiness in my life. Biographies like those of Bahja and Ihsan are wake up calls to the people being sheltered and protected from some of the cruelty that populates this world. Their stories crushed the ideals that I had hoped those countries would embrace, but mostly I felt grateful. For my life. And for the security I feel and feed on without ever having fear that it could disappear someday.
Bahja and Ihsan are two tragic stories in which I felt moved while reading them. These two characters were refugees whom encountered a miserable life full of harassment and torment. As a matter of fact, feelings such as melancholia and sadness burst out and dominated my mind. Those feelings were based on the brutality, aggression, and segregation which those two women agonized over. Furthermore, it is paramount that I thoughtfully considered and admired them due to the hardships and the difficulties they went through to survive. They didn't give up, instead they persevered in order to fulfill their needs and seek success. In short, Bahja and Ihsan appeared to be outstanding and impressive characters that can't be forgotten!
Reading Bahja and Ihsan, I was shrouded by a feeling of desolation and despondency. I imagined the tragic situations that both these women had to endure i.e. as loss of family members, their injuries, the appalling rape, the abuse and violence. After absorbing the gravity of their situations, I was overcome by curiosity. I was curious to meet women like Bahja and Ihsan; Women that faced discrimination and oppression based on gender and race, but mostly those subjected to the depravity of men. I admire these women not only for their determination to survive, but also for their dedication to those they love. Both women inspire me since it would have been easier for them to give up, but their will to surpass all the adversities that life threw at them prevailed.
Bahja and Ihsan are definitely not the first pieces of literature work regarding the general topic of Sudanese refugees and their hardships, yet these two stories take the reader's feelings to a whole new level of sympathy and inspiration at the same time. In a timeline of cruel and inhumane acts and events, the sorrow and misery is tangible and it gives the reader a reality check of the ruthless and barbaric world we live in. On the other hand, the tragic impact of the two stories tends to be a positive impact, they are two real life proofs of the incredible power of human nature to tolerate and prevail after suffering. It is a burst of light at the end of a gloomy tunnel.
Away from the depressive tone that they reflect, both stories take me back to the time when my parents used to tell me similar stories to teach me life-related lessons. Not only did i sympathize with Bahja and Ihsan, but I also felt appreciative to the life we are currently living in (despite the several obvious imperfections that we still carry with us till that time). Moreover, I admired the patience in Ihsan and the tolerance in Bahja, for they both reflected an independent character within their behavior to the situations.
Bahja and Ihsan are two depressing stories that show discrimination, tragedy, and rape. Both talk about how two women were refugees and how they continued there lives despite the suffering they went through. Bahja and Ihsan stayed strong and sturdy even though they went through all the the anguish and misery in order to protect their families, and did not give up no matter what. Readers should admire these two women who struggled albeit they went through all the catastrophic events. In my opinion, Bahja's story was more touchy than Ihsan's story as Bahja went through more agony as rape..etc.Bahja did not give up although she came to no end!
While reading Bahja and Ihsan I thought they were going to be just stories that ill forget in a couple of days. As I continued reading them I was taken by the misfortune of both stories. The image of Bahja and Ihsan those strong yet fragile women got imprinted in my mind. Both women represent the tyranny and oppression that women are facing every day in most third world countries. The narrators of Bahja and Ihsan delivered the spectacle in a defined approach. The characters encountered several desecrations towards gender and color. My assessment of the world is nearly altered as a new morning rises I fear the upcoming events of my future. But the survival of those women and their persistence to keep on living gives me a ting of light. I certainly respect, value, and admire both Bahja and Ihsan for being true women.
Bahja and Ihsan are two stories that touched my heart deeply. Both stories show the atrocities of war and conflicts, and their effect on humanity. These stories also highlights the humans' power and ability to overcome obstacles of different kinds, using their will and faith. Bahja and Ihsan describe deeply the atrocities faced by women in our region: women are treated as objects. That is a sad truth that we should try to eliminate as soon as possible in order to assure a bright future for ourselves and our kids. Personally, both stories were able, sadly, to bring me, as a lebanese, some pictures of the nasty civil war that happened in my country: My biggest fear is that this picture will return one day. But the determination and patience of Bahja and Ihsan are candles in a huge darkness, they bring me hope and faith.
Bahja and Ihsan are two stories of women who faced misery and agony during war in their countries. These are two different stories of women refugees who hunt for freedom and peace and who in return confronted discrimination in its fullest extent. Both Bahja and Ihsan were physically abused and maltreated, yet they managed to survive physically and psychologically. In addition, both characters faced danger and fear but still acquired the strength to face these obstacles. In my opinion, these two stories highlight women’s strength, courageousness, and patience. I believe that the audience reading these stories should have a clear view of how fast young women can mature during times of conflict and war.
I was thankful for everything after reading these two stories. Bahja and Ihsan didn't get a good education. They even didn't have a roof to feel safe and they were forced to work in most uncomfortable conditions. They were rapped and harassed. I felt sad because women were seen as a body, an object and not as a human being that have a soul and dignity. These two examples showed us how women can be strong and that they are able to survive and sacrifice themselves only for the sake of their families. Bahja and Ihsan should be honored. I feel sorry to say that this situation is also present in our country it is not restricted only for sudanese women. Unfortunately, we live currently in a masculin community where the first and last word is for men. Isn't it about time to admit and practice gender equality? Didn't women prove that they can be equivalent for males? Shouldn't we reject sexual distiction to reach a balanced society? I hope that people start to ask themselves these questions.
I do think that Bahja and Ihsan hold a lot of intimate messages and touch a dimension that goes beyond the narration itself . In fact, they are not simple stories but more like wake up calls. They are biographies, and biography means that the story does not end when the author stops writing. No. Bahja and Ihsan are not fictional characters who walk and breath according to the writer's imagination. They are real women who faced rape and harassment, who were forced to leave their own homelands, who watched their own families die and suffer in front of them and who along their hard journeys became fighters, survivors and rebels . This fusion of feminism and rebellion is admirable, and their attachment to life make the reader's feelings go from empathy and sadness to admiration! However, these stories weren't just written so that the readers see how formidable these women were. The biographies focus on a critical issue we are facing today. There are a lot of Bahjas and Ihsans out there. Many are being discriminated and attacked at the same moment i'm writing this comment. And they all need our help and and the world's attention. If Bahja and Ihsan were lucky and willing enough to overcome the difficulties, some women cannot do what they achieved. In fact some cannot even accomplish the slightest things these two women did. Some... cannot even survive.
The story of Bahja stirred the feelings of pure sympathy in me. She has had a terrible life so far, but the way she was describing the events in a rather monotonous way was admirable. She seemed resilient. I also learned a lot about the way Sudanese women were treated in their country, and later in Cairo. Naturally, it made me more appreciative. I was also overwhelmed by the urgent need to help someone. The story of Ihsan affected me more, emotionally, because it was very positive. I react better to optimistic things; we already know that life is difficult, it’s important when someone acts as a role model. I liked Ihsan’s strategy of survival. She used everything she knew and advertised her talents to attract more clients. She had somebody to take care of – her sister – and that helps to stay focused on your goal. Both of the stories were very moving, and I must admit, I still cannot stop sharing them with almost everybody I know. It’s vital to look at the issue of violence and refugees from all aspects, as opposed to solely the subjective disapproval coming from the bourgeois natives.
Bahja and Ehsan are two amazing stories . I felt as if they are sending a message of emotions to me through the reading . Since i felt unhappy , somber , and bitter. The two stories describe the trajedy in away where the plot is organized in a way the more i read the more compicated things became . Starting with a emotionless introductions i couldnt imagine it might turn out to be that way . i liked reading the stories and i feel like benefit from them since they were good example of writing.
When I started reading the first page I was really mad. I mean, I usually turn off my tv in order to avoid hearing bad news and then now I'm obliged to real a long story full of horrible scenes! Anyways, both stories are amazing, but what affected me the most was bahja's story. I have been touched by her story and several times I wanted to stop reading but in the same time I had plenty of questions that cannot be answered unless I continue the reading. She is what mothers should be like. The true meaning of sacrifice and struggling no matter what for the sake of her kids. She was suffering but patient. She was violated, raped, hit by cruel men and lost her kids and her husband then found them again. Who on earth can take all that? Who can resist under such a pressure and violation? Bahja is an example of a true mother for all mothers, not just that, but in my opinion she's a HERO.
